Understanding Roadside Protection Plus

Below is a concise description of our Roadside Protection Plus coverage, outlining what's covered if you need help on the road during your camper rental.

Every camper rental comes with a 24/7 emergency line so you can reach us for guidance anytime. Roadside Protection Plus is what actually covers the cost of that help, things like a lost key, a tow, a flat tire, a jumpstart, getting pulled out of snow or mud, an F-road rescue, or the wrong fuel going in the tank. All of it is 0 euros with protection. Without it, you are covering those costs yourself.

Not quite. Roadside Protection Plus is a separate add-on, it is not part of any insurance package. Insurance deals with damage to the camper, while this covers the cost of getting help to you on the road.

No. Roadside Protection Plus is an additional coverage available for purchase and is not included in any insurance package, including Platinum.

Yes. Since it sits outside the Silver, Gold, and Platinum tiers, it can be added to any of them.

No. It is an additional coverage available for purchase and is not included in any of our insurance packages. It covers the service cost of roadside assistance rather than damage to the camper.

Yes, in the moment you pay 24RA directly, the company we work with for roadside support. We review the callout afterward and refund you fully if it is covered.

Reach out to us before anyone else, at +354 551 1115 or go@gorentals.is

Tell us what is going on and we will walk you through what happens next.

Yes, getting someone out to change it is covered under Roadside Protection Plus. Just note this is different from Tire Protection under Platinum, which handles fixing or replacing the tire itself, not the roadside callout.

Roadside Protection Plus covers the towing and service cost if you put the wrong fuel in the vehicle. It does not cover any damage caused to the vehicle as a result of the wrong fuel, such as engine or fuel system damage, which remains the renter's responsibility.

No fixed number, but this is built for genuine emergencies. If something minor comes up that you could reasonably sort out yourself, we may charge for that callout.

Yes, towing assistance is fully covered.

Roadside assistance is available 24 hours. During our opening hours, always reach out to us first at +354 551 1115 or go@gorentals.is

Outside of opening hours, you can contact 24RA directly at +354-419-2400 or info@24ra.is

Yes, battery jumpstarts are included at no cost with Roadside Protection Plus.

Yes, we can help anywhere in Iceland, including if you get stuck in snow, mud, or on legal F-roads.

This is one to be careful about. Large or risky river crossings are not allowed under the rental terms, so a callout from attempting one is not covered, and the tow becomes your cost. Any water or underside damage is not covered by insurance either, and you could face a deposit of up to 7,000 euros.

What Insurance and Roadside Protection Plus Do Not Cover

Yes, anything caused by reckless or prohibited driving is excluded.

No, closed or restricted roads are excluded from coverage.

No. Roadside Protection Plus covers genuine emergencies only, so callouts for non-emergency situations are not covered.

For small stuff, yes. Use the spare tire if that applies, for example. We can charge for a callout that turns out to have been avoidable.

Yes, driving somewhere not meant for vehicles, like beaches, snowbanks, or unbridged rivers, is excluded.

No. If you drive after an official weather warning has been issued and ignore it, the resulting callout is not covered under Roadside Protection Plus.
