Our Go Green Mission

At Go Campers, we believe in responsible travel and are dedicated to sustainability. GoGreen is our vision on how to reducethe environmental and social impact of Go Campers.

Sustainable fleet management

Our campervans are thoughtfully designed for comfort, convenience, and flexibility. In addition to that we are constantly looking for ways in which we can reduce the environmental impact of our campervans through the practice of sustainable fleet management.

Go efficient

At Go Campers we are focused on fuel efficiency, reliability and safety. We also aim to select vehicles that have low CO₂ emissions to minimize the carbon footprint we leave behind. When our costumers book their campervans, they can see information about the vehicle’s CO₂ emissions, which is also colored by how green it is.

Our campervans are all designed and built in-house. This allows us to limit the environmental impact of the build as well as controlling quality at every stage, ensuring our vehicles high standards of safety, functionality, and comfort.

Our campervans are all maintained in-house. This ensures that our vehicles are thoroughly inspected before and after each rental, allowing us to fix issues before they arise.

Our campervans are all cleaned and prepared in-house. This ensures that our campervans are handed to our customers in perfect condition, but it also means that we can make sure that all products used, such as cleaning products, are eco-friendly options.

Go electric

Our Airport Shuttle is fully electric.

Iceland produces some of the greenest electricity in the world, with over 90% of its electricity coming from renewable sources. This gives Iceland a perfect opportunity to become the first country in the world to have an entire fleet of electric vehicles, leaving zero carbon footprint from its road transport sector.

At the moment, Iceland does not have the infrastructure to properly support a large fleet of electric vehicles. The main reason is lack of DC charging stations, sparsely populated areas, high investment costs and somewhat challenging environment for electric vehicles. This will on the other hand change in the coming years and at Go Campers we want to take part in this crucial energy transition.

Our aim is that most of our campervans will be fully electric by 2030.

Go offset the carbon footprint

To support sustainability, we offer our customers the option to offset the carbon footprint of their campervan travel, and at the same time contribute to Iceland’s reforestation initiative

Go Campers are proud to partner with the Icelandic Carbon Fund – Kolviður.

Kolviður - founded in 2007 by the Icelandic Forestry Association and the Icelandic Environment Association - offers carbon sequestration through tree planting.

Since 2019, Go Campers customers have contributed to Iceland’s reforestation efforts by offsetting their CO₂ emissions through Kolviður. Together, we have raised €5,250 to help plant trees and restore natural landscapes, making a lasting impact on Iceland’s environment.

To encourage our customers to offset their campervan travel, Go Campers offers their customers a sleeping mask for free when they buy carbon credits through Kolviður – “Don’t let the bright nights or the carbon footprint keep you up at night”.

Go Campers will contribute annually to Kolviður the equivalent of 150 campervans travelling the length of the Icelandic Ring Road – Þjóðvegur 1.

Sustainable office management

At Go Campers we believe in responsible travel and are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact. We have therefore taken significant steps to make our day-to-day operations more sustainable.

Go recycle

We ensure that all our waste is properly sorted and disposed of in the most environmentally friendly way.

We use only eco-friendly products for our operation.

Go paperless

At Go Campers we have managed to cut our paper use by 90% over the last couple of years by switching to digital signatures during pick-up.

Our aim is that by 2030 our operation will be fully paperless.

Go employees

All our vehicles, used by our staff to support our day-to-day activities, are fully electric.

Go share

At Go Campers, we are committed to reducing food waste and making travel more sustainable.

That is why we created the Sharing Center - a simple way for Go travelers to pass on leftover food to fellow campers.

Many customers end their trips with perfectly good food that often comes in larger portions than needed for a short camping adventure. Instead of letting it go to waste, they can leave it at our office for others to use.

This initiative not only helps reduce unnecessary waste but also allows new travelers to save money and make the most of their journey.

Sustainable travel

Traveling in a way that’s better for the environment doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple things like using a reusable water bottle, following the trails, eating local food, and picking eco-friendly tour operators can help protecting the fragile nature of Iceland.

The Icelandic landscape is a big part of what makes visiting Iceland extraordinary, and it is an important part of our identity as a nation.

By being mindful of how we travel we can all make a difference. With few easy choices, we can enjoy our travel while also helping to protect Iceland’s nature for future generations.
